The story of the UCCSA Leadership Academy |
|
Background
The story of the UCCSA Leadership Academy was born out of a long-standing need for training and discipleship that had been expressed over the years at various levels of the denomination. It was the Vision Plan which conceptualized the dreams so-far expressed into an academy for leadership development. With the UCCSA turning 40 in 2007 and running on the theme “In Christ there is a future, the Leadership Academy was thus set up to serve as the training wing for the UCCSA.

What is CCLP?
CCLP is a programme of study for UCCSA clergy. It is based on the principle of life-long and contextual learning. It involves individual minister, the church and the community as the context in which ministry is done. It seeks to facilitate further development of ministers in the study areas of their choice.
What are the objectives of CCLP?
> To facilitate learning programmes for UCCSA clergy
> To encourage UCCSA clergy to engage in continuing learning
> To clergy to acquire up-to-date skills for service in communities
How does CCLP work?
> Ministers identify study areas of their interests
> And write a two page synopsis on their chosen field of study
> And state how the field will be of benefit to the UCCSA.
> Leadership Academy then engages the minister on their intended study focus
> ATMC will decide on whether to support the application
> The UCCSA pays tuition fees only The minister must commit to serving the Church after their completion of studies.
Who can participate in CCLP?
UCCSA clergy who have:
> Clergy with passion for life-long learning for mission
> Clergy with determination to overcome disadvantages
> Commitment to re-reading the Bible in the light of current life-settings When can one apply? Applications are considered by the ATMC in June and October each year.

Do you read your bible |
|
"...Yesterday I went to the Police Station to certify my documents. When I entered the police station, I found a police officer reading the Bible, in the book of Genesis.
I was very impressed so I asked him ' Who killed Abel, Adam's son?" He answered, "I don't know, ask Sgt. Khumalo over there. He is the one who deals with murder cases..." |
